We can’t wait for summertime to begin at The Small Holding. Not only does it present new and exciting opportunities to eat local and get back to nature with the modern British menu at our Kilndown restaurant and farm, but it’s also when the abundance of Kent food festivals gets underway as well!

There are lots to immerse yourself in this year, where our talented Kent Life Chef of the Year, Will Devlin, is rolling up his sleeves and showcasing our locally-sourced field-to-fork favourites. From the real food of Pub in the Park, to the mouth-watering array of seasonal, homegrown and organic ingredients at the annual Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge shows, he’ll be demonstrating his unique culinary flair and creative style.

Here are five food and drink festivals where you can see Will cooking in 2019…

Will Devlin will be appearing at some of the most exciting Kent food festivals this summer

Tonbridge Food and Drink Festival

Saturday May 25 and Sunday May 26
Tonbridge Castle, Tonbridge
Set in the stunning Tonbridge Castle grounds and organised by the Tonbridge Farmers’ Market team, this brilliant event features over 70 stallholders, selling a delicious range of the best of Kent in the Garden of England. We’re looking forward to meeting our fellow local chefs and producers for the weekend’s cooking demonstrations, and see Kent’s Young Chefs in action too!

Kent County Show

Friday July 5 to Sunday July 7
Kent Showground, Maidstone
Boasting more than 400 exhibitors, Kent County Show is a feast for the senses. This year marks the farming and countryside showcase’s 90th year, which we feel immensely privileged to be a part of. The Cookery Theatre, held in the Maidstone Exhibition Hall, is where you’ll find us, co-ordinated by our friend Matthew Kearsey-Lawson, head chef and owner of Kent Fine Foods.

Pub in the Park

Friday July 12 to Sunday July 14
Dunorlan Park, Tunbridge Wells
We’re thrilled to announce that Will’s joining celebrity chef Tom Kerridge for this year’s Pub in the Park! Hosted by Jason Atherton and Monica Galetti in Tunbridge Wells’ beautiful Dunorlan Park, he’ll be cooking up a storm alongside the likes of Angela Hartnett and Atul Kochhar, with plenty of live music, world-class chef demos and Michelin-starred restaurants across three days.

Taste of Kent Food Festival

Saturday September 7 and Sunday September 8
Bradbourne House, East Malling
We’re set to fire up our ovens with The Kentish Hare’s James and Chris Tanner, Matt Sworder from The Corner House and more at this fantastic celebration of artisan producers, street food heroes and hard-working chefs. With foodie talks, cooking demos and hands-on masterclasses – plus a street food court and artisan food market – you won’t want to miss it.

Tunbridge Wells Food and Drink Festival

September – dates TBC
Calverley Grounds, Tunbridge Wells
As the culmination of Tunbridge Wells Food Month in September, the royal spa town’s annual food and drink festival will take place in the fourth or fifth weekend of the month, with dates to be announced soon. Tunbridge Wells is a hotspot for gourmets far and wide, so keep your eyes peeled over on their Facebook page for more details to come.
